Meet Centre Owners Chris and Heather Hodgetts
Jingeri, hello! We are Heather and Chris - the proud centre owner-operators of The Young Ones Early Learning, est. May 2019.
Heather is an experienced and passionate early childhood trained teacher and qualified Forest School Leader who holds a degree in Languages and applied Linguistics and in Early Childhood Education. She is an advocate for getting children outdoors and started the weekly Bush Kindy program which her husband Chris also participates in. Her qualifications have allowed her to explore diverse teaching roles in primary schools; interactively teach the Spanish language and also ESL (English as a Second Language). Building meaningful relationships with children and being a part of their holistic learning journey is where her true passion lies.
Chris was self-employed in the building and plumbing trade for over 20 years and before obtaining a Cert III in Children’s Services. He has extensive experience in the building industry and business management. He enjoys being hands-on and applies his expertise to the maintenance and development of the centre. He loves to be creative and there’s no denying he is a big kid at heart!
We are passionate advocates for connecting children with their natural world and ‘Nurturing in Nature’. We strongly believe that nature play invigorates the senses, nourishes wellbeing and stimulates imagination.
As parents to three young boys, we understand that nurturing relationships are pivotal. We are focussed on manifesting respectful and meaningful relationships with our children, families and our community.
We look forward to personally meeting you all and truly believe it is a privilege to have the opportunity to be a part of your child’s learning journey at The Young Ones Early Learning.
With Gratitude,
Heather and Chris Hodgetts
