Our Philosophy
We believe that every child is wonderfully unique and has the right to feel safe, respected and celebrated in nurturing environments.
We are a team of innovative Early Childhood professionals who highly value building and maintaining strong, respectful relationships with children and families. We believe that secure, positive relationships underpin a child’s development, promotes wellbeing and a positive sense of community. We place a strong emphasis on the importance of family and community and the belief that it ‘takes a village to raise a child’. Open communication between families, educators and children is fundamental to our service. We believe that when children feel safe and valued, authentic and meaningful learning experiences can take place.
We are dedicated to fostering our children’s diverse needs by focusing on the development of the ‘whole child’ – physically, socially, emotionally and spiritually. We believe learning is organic and true holistic development is built from child-led and supported learning and discovery, community awareness and a strong sense of self. We believe a child will plant the seeds of interest and our educators will be responsive and provide the resources to enhance and engage their learning. Our team understands the importance of continually reflecting on our practices and we are willing to develop our knowledge of the early years in order to see growth within ourselves.
Play is highly valued as the most fundamental form of learning. We acknowledge the environment as the 'third teacher' and therefore our flexible learning spaces allow opportunities for self-exploration and for children to make connections to their world. Children build on problem solving skills, self-exploration, decision making, cause and effect, creativity, imaginative thinking, complex vocabulary, number relationships, structures, social skills and healthy living.
The marigold flower was specifically chosen in our emblem as it symbolises passion and creativity – significant attributes that ignite a life-long love for learning. Marigolds are widely known as the ‘herb of the sun’ and only blossom when they access full sunlight. We see children as true representations of marigold flowers and believe they truly blossom when outdoors. Nature play invigorates the senses, nourishes wellbeing and stimulates the imagination.
We believe allowing children the freedom to be immersed in nature can assist them to develop a strong sense of agency, builds their self-confidence and resilience. We emphasise the importance of allowing children time and space to develop their interests and skills through practical, hands-on experiences. We envision a generation connected to nature who will be more likely to value and protect it.
